“For the Benefit of Mister Kite”

Hawkman is decidedly not getting that vacation — the cover by Richard Howell and Murphy Anderson pitches him fist-first out of the sky, great dark wings spread wide, as a vivid red biplane blazes away with gunfire nearby, while Hawkgirl battles below amid the clouds with a creature in tow. Writer Tony Isabella, artist Richard Howell, and inker Don Heck bring the action with a cheeky cover blurb that says it all: "…And to think the Hawks came here for a REST--!" As a bonus treat, the cover spotlights a special appearance by Zatanna, shown in her magician's guise complete with top hat, promising a wonderfully eclectic issue that keeps the 1986 DC universe feeling wide open and full of surprises.
