In Africa, planter Reed is informed that his wife Alice must have an operation in England to save her life. Dr. Bishop offers to finance the operation if Reed -- whom he says has a fatal disease -- signs over the rights to his corpse for medical research. Reed agrees. Alice returns from England cured, but Reed discovers she's having an affair with Bishop. Reed arranges for Alice to be bitten by a deadly snake, and delivers her body to Bishop, then kills the doctor. However, Alice had scratched Reed before she died, and the snake venom eventually kills him as well.
