About this Issue

Issue #5 of this six-part limited series marks the narrative hinge-point of the first-ever crossover between Harley Quinn and Elvira, Mistress of the Dark — a meeting that unites DC Comics' post-2010s comedy anti-hero tradition with four decades of Cassandra Peterson's horror-host persona. As the penultimate chapter, it pushes the story into full cosmic absurdity and ends on a genuinely consequential cliffhanger: Harley suffering potentially fatal wounds at the hands of alien bear-worshippers, a tonal gambit unusual for a largely comedic crossover series. The issue also represents Dynamite Entertainment operating squarely within the DC sandbox, the kind of inter-publisher co-production that remains rare and editorially significant in the Direct Market.

History

The crossover was conceived and publicly announced in early 2025 as a three-way collaboration between DC Comics, Dynamite Entertainment, and Queen 'B' Productions — the production entity associated with Cassandra Peterson herself — with Peterson personally approving the creative team. Both publishers specifically wanted Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti, the pair who had shaped Harley's comedic voice across DC's New 52 and Rebirth eras from 2013 to 2018, to return to the character. Juan Samu, who had prior experience drawing Elvira comics for Dynamite, was brought in as the primary interior artist, with Conner contributing selected pages and two covers per issue throughout the run.

Trivia · 8 facts

  • Published March 11, 2026 by Dynamite Entertainment, co-published with DC Comics and Queen 'B' Productions, as the fifth chapter of a six-issue limited series.
  • Written by Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti, with interior art by Juan Samu and Amanda Conner; letters by Dave Sharpe; colors by Walter Pereyra.
  • Edited by Joseph Rybandt and Chris Conroy, with David Avallone serving as editorial consultant — Avallone being a veteran Dynamite Elvira writer.
  • Story titled 'Wedding Blisters'; plot follows Harley, Elvira, and DC character Vartox escaping Transylvania and traveling through space to attend an interspecies wedding that devolves into chaos when Elvira is abducted by a fanatical alien cult.
  • DC's Vartox — a Superman supporting character first appearing in Superman #281 (1974) — and Power Girl (Kara Zor-L) both appear, making this a notable crossover point where classic DC cosmic characters interact with Dynamite's Elvira universe.
  • Issue #5 ends on a dark cliffhanger: Harley is fatally bitten by alien bear-worshippers before Power Girl can intervene, setting up the series finale.
  • Cover variants for this issue were produced by Amanda Conner (two covers, including a tentacles-themed limited virgin edition), Chad Hardin, Joseph Michael Linsner, and Ben Caldwell, plus a mystery blind-bag variant.
  • This is the penultimate issue of the limited run; issue #6 (April 29, 2026) concluded the series, with the DC Database noting it as the final issue.
