Buck Wargo and his team, which now includes Guy Gardner, survive an explosion set by a Nazi soldier. They continue on their exploration for the Waters of the Warriors but are menaced by the Knights of Dead Sands and another expedition. Finally, Veronna, leader of the Warrior Women of Nabba, greets them, and she reveals that Guy is the chosen warrior. After drinking the Waters of the Warriors, Guy must use his new powers to defeat Esperanza Chata, who reveals that she is a member of the El Garto cult.
