“Groo: The Prophecy Chapter 1”

The wandering fool-warrior Groo charges sword-first into fresh disaster on the cover of this opening chapter of the four-part Groo: The Prophecy from Dark Horse — a massive, snarling red dragon coils through a panicked Mediterranean-style town while villagers scatter in every direction. It's a gloriously chaotic scene rendered with Sergio Aragonés's unmistakable pen, packing dozens of tiny background gags into every corner alongside the main mayhem. With the full creative team of Aragonés, Evanier, Sakai, and Strachan aboard, this 2026 miniseries promises all the warmhearted slapstick carnage fans of the wandering barbarian have come to love.

After sinking four boats (only four?), Groo and Rufferto arrive at a land where the populace is terrified over a doom prediction made by the prophet Sybilia. Groo slays an attacking monster, routs an invading army... and, rather than his usually being the *cause* of great panic and destruction, becomes the hero of the villagers. However, neither the monster, nor the invading army, were the doom-bringers that Sybilia prophesized, and the "true and horrifying doom" still lies ahead. Is Groo up to the challenge... or could HE himself BE the challenge?
