Green Lantern #4
This September 1990 issue presents one of the more quietly striking covers of the series: Green Lantern stands alone on a cracked road, his back to us, facing a massive, smoldering crater where Evergreen City once stood — the "Welcome to Evergreen City" sign still upright at the roadside, a grim piece of irony framing the devastation. Pat Broderick and Mark Nelson render the scene with a sweeping, almost cinematic scale, pine trees lining the horizon and storm clouds rolling overhead, making the lone figure feel genuinely small against the destruction before him. Gerard Jones's "Among My Souvenirs" promises a story as sobering and atmospheric as the cover suggests.
