“The King Once More”

In "The King Once More," Godzilla stumbles through Times Square, disoriented after a mysterious journey through time, setting off a citywide crisis. With S.H.I.E.L.D. trying to redirect the beast and the Fantastic Four realizing they can't handle the threat alone, the Avengers are called in—leading to a desperate battle that ends with Godzilla falling into the Hudson, only to rise again, more furious than before. Written by Doug Moench and brought to life by Herb Trimpe’s dynamic art, with Dan Green’s inks and Ben Sean’s colors, this 1979 Marvel classic captures the chaos and scale of a giant monster on the rampage. The cover, also by Trimpe and Green, perfectly captures the moment of tension as the city braces for what comes next.

Godzilla appears in Times Square disoriented after his trip through time. S.H.I.E.L.D. goads him into following the Behemoth to lure him away from the city. The Fantastic Four get involved but realize that more help is needed. The Torch goes to Avengers Mansion and asks the Avengers to help. A huge battle ensues to get Godzilla to the sea but he won't leave. Yellowjacket and The Wasp enter Godzilla's ear and distort his equilibrium causing him to fall into the Hudson. Just when it seems that the heroes succeed, Godzilla rises from the water more enraged than ever.
