Written by Doug Moench and illustrated by Herb Trimpe and Jim Mooney, with colors by Janice Cohen and letters by Joe Rosen, this 1977 issue features a cover by Herb Trimpe that captures the beast’s terrifying arrival.

Godzilla lands on American soil by bursting out of an iceberg off the coast of Alaska, and proceeds to attack an oil pipeline. S.H.I.E.L.D. (led by Dugan and Woo) arrive and try to stop Godzilla with a powerful laser cannon but fail. Godzilla eventually leaves just as Nick Fury arrives with a Japanese scientist (along with his assistant and his grandson) who might have the answer to stop Godzilla.
