“Thunder in the Darkness!”

In "Thunder in the Darkness!", Godzilla staggers ashore in Seattle, still reeling from a S.H.I.E.L.D. laser blast, and begins a terrifying rampage that threatens the city’s skyline. With the Space Needle in peril, S.H.I.E.L.D. engineers plunge Seattle into darkness by destroying the power plant—then use blinding lights and a barrage of explosive blocks launched from catapults to drive the beast back into the sea. Written by Doug Moench and brought to life with dynamic art by Herb Trimpe (pencils and inks), this 1977 Marvel classic delivers a pulse-pounding clash of monster and military, all rendered in vivid colors by Jan Cohen and sharp lettering by J. Costanza. The cover, also by Trimpe, captures the chaos in bold, striking detail.
