“The Trampolin”

Walt Disney's Jiminy Cricket gets his own Dell spotlight in this cheerful 1959 issue, with cover art by Al Hubbard showing the dapper little conscience himself riding an upturned red umbrella like a tiny boat through a rainstorm, top hat askew and yellow-gloved hand outstretched to catch the falling drops. It's a wonderfully expressive image — equal parts soggy and endearing — that captures Jiminy's irrepressible good humor even when the weather isn't cooperating. A delightful ten-cent treat from the May–July 1959 Dell lineup.
