“Brannigan's Boots”

In "Brannigan's Boots," Sugarfoot rides into Bonanza with Tate Mason, only to see Mason taken by Notch Coberly's gang just before his trial. With Mason missing and Sugarfoot the only witness, the townsfolk quickly turn suspicious—especially when the mysterious boots of a dead man start turning up. Written by Eric Freiwald and Robert Schaefer and illustrated with sharp, expressive detail by Alex Toth, this 1958 Four Color adventure blends frontier tension and quiet dread in a story where trust is as fragile as a trail dust storm. Cover by Alex Toth.
