“The False Rider”

In "The False Rider," Duff Gregor finds himself eerily mirroring Silvertip, a likeness that takes a dangerous turn when he teams up with Silvertip’s enemy, Barry Christian, to impersonate the outlaw and rob Crow’s Nest. As Gregor dons Silvertip’s identity, the real Silvertip arrives in town only to be met with suspicion and hostility—unaware of the deception unfolding around him. Art by Mort Meskin and Jerry Robinson brings the tension to life, while Sam Savitt’s cover captures the eerie duality at the story’s heart.

Duff Gregor camps with Silvertip and both men notice how much they look alike. Gregor later meets up with Barry Christian, Silvertip's greatest enemy, and the pair come up with a plan where Gregor will disguise himself as Silvertip and fool the people of Crow's Nest before robbing their bank. Silvertip then rides into town, not knowing what has happened, and gets a hostile reception.
