“The Pride and the Passion”

Dell's "A Movie Classic" line brought The Pride and the Passion to comics readers in 1957, adapting the Stanley Kramer production released through United Artists. The cover makes full use of photo imagery from the film — a confident young man in period peasant clothing dominates the left side, while inset photographs show a massive cannon being hauled across rugged terrain, war-torn stonework and a church tower, and a close-up of two determined men surveying the chaos. The tagline "One Cannon to Win a War!" sets the stakes perfectly, with interior art by André LeBlanc and script by Paul S. Newman bringing the epic struggle to life on the page.
