In the aftermath of the Civil War, former enemies Lee Hunter and Reb Stuart—once cavalry officers on opposite sides—now serve together at Fort Defiance, where they must navigate the fragile tensions of a peace council between tribes. When Sioux warrior Standing Bear threatens to ignite a war with the Snake tribe, the two former soldiers find themselves caught between duty, history, and the hard-won hope for peace.
In the rugged frontier of 1957, a group of U.S. Cavalry soldiers escort Red Bird’s Cheyenne tribe to a new reservation, tasked with disarming the warriors along the way. As tensions simmer, the rival Pawnees watch and wait, seeing a chance to strike when the Cheyenne are most vulnerable.
