This 1955 Dell authorized edition brings Walt Disney's Davy Crockett to the page in grand frontier style, with a rugged, confident Crockett standing tall at a river's edge, pole in hand, scanning the waterway ahead. Two black-and-white photo insets in the lower corner capture real-life production stills of keelboat crews hard at work on the river, giving the cover an exciting blend of comic art and live-action imagery. At a dime a copy, it's a fine snapshot of mid-1950s Disney tie-in publishing at its most adventurous.
