1716 led by chieftain Rob Clan MacGregor rebels against English rule & is captured by Duke Campbell. Breaking the news to his mother, she presents protections for the Duke on the road to London with his prisoner Rob, thus arranging a rescue. Upon rescue Rob asks Helen to marry him. At his wedding the new Secretary of Scotland, the Duke of Montrose, disbands clan MacGregor and orders the arrest of Rob. Escaping Rob tells his people to hide their weapons and lay low. In response the Duke takes Rob's mother captive. During her rescue she dies. Rob still trying for peace is shot by Killearn...
