“Not So Nutty After All”

In "Not So Nutty After All," Goober, Jeannie, and Johnnie turn a broken wind-up record player into a hand-organ, staging a musical act that draws a crowd downtown—only to land in trouble for lacking a license. Written and illustrated by Bill MacLean, this charming 1953 Four Color adventure captures the trio’s mischievous charm and unexpected talent, leading to a surprising second chance on the Police Athletic League’s TV show. The story’s playful energy and clever setup shine through MacLean’s distinctive art, with the cover by MacLean himself perfectly capturing the zany spirit of the tale.
