“Alarmed Alarm Clock”

In "Alarmed Alarm Clock," a 1953 Four Color issue from Dell, Mary Jane and her trusty dog Sniffles investigate strange colored clouds over Blue Mountain, enlisting the help of Gertrude Goose to fly them there. Captured by a peculiar tribe of mushroom people who cultivate diamonds on bushes, they find themselves entangled in a royal request: the sickly King Moola, inspired by a fabled golden egg, demands Gertrude lay a golden egg of her own. Art by Al Hubbard—both pencils and inks—brings this whimsical, surreal adventure to life, with cover art by Hubbard as well.
