“Zane Grey's Wildfire”

In "Zane Grey's Wildfire," young Lucy Bostil stumbles upon a wild stallion trapped in cactus during a training ride on her father’s champion horse, Sage King. After rescuing the spirited animal and helping Lin Slone—a man with a back injury from roping it—Lucy bonds with the horse, renaming him Wildfire, and enters him in a major race against her father’s prized steed. Written by Zane Grey and Gaylord Du Bois, with art by the Al McKimson Team and a cover by Sam Savitt, this 1952 Dell Four Color tale captures the grit and heart of the American West.
