This Dell ten-cent gem from 1951 puts Gene Autry's beloved palomino Champion front and center, rearing magnificently against a wide-open Western sky with red-rock mesas stretching out below. A small critter scrambles at Champion's hooves, adding a lively touch of the untamed frontier to the scene, while a portrait of Gene Autry himself smiles from the corner. Morris Gollub's painted cover work captures the spirit of "The Trail to Danger" beautifully, and with 52 pages of all-comics content, this issue offered young Western fans real value for a dime.
