“Park in the Dark”

In "Park in the Dark," Toody and Muldoon are on duty outside the Ritz Hotel, keeping quiet to avoid disturbing a Maharaja with 100 wives. When their relief arrives in an accident, Toody slips away to umpire a sandlot baseball game—only to stumble upon a thief named Slippery Fingers burying stolen diamonds nearby. The story unfolds with quiet humor and clever timing, all drawn with crisp energy by Tony Tallarico, whose distinctive style brings the misadventures of these bumbling patrolmen to life.

Toody and Muldoon are parked outside the Ritz hotel to keep anyone from making noise which would disturb a Maharaja with 100 wives. When their relief patrolmen are involved in an accident, Toody slips away to umpire a sandlot baseball game. A thief called Slippery Fingers steals some diamonds from the Maharaja and is burying them in a lot near the game Toody is umpiring. Toody captures the thief, but can't claim credit because he is supposed to be on duty at the hotel with Muldoon.
