In "Morgan the Pirate," a 1961 Four Color comic, the son of an English nobleman is sold into slavery by the Spanish and later imprisoned as a galley slave after being accused of romantic involvement with the daughter of the Viceroy of Panama. After leading a mutiny, he rises as a pirate captain, uniting his fellow escaped slaves in a daring assault on the city they once suffered under. Art by Gerald McCann brings the swashbuckling tale to life with bold, expressive lines.
