“Sounding Off”

In "Sounding Off," Goofy’s backyard experiment takes a wild turn when his makeshift go-kart—built from an overstuffed chair, a lawn mower, and random parts—accidentally wins a race. With Mickey’s encouragement, Goofy and his friends organize a cross-country kart race, turning a simple mishap into a full-blown adventure. Written by Vic Lockman and illustrated by Tony Strobl, with inks by John Liggera and colors by the Western Publishing Production Shop, this 1961 Four Color comic features a delightfully chaotic ride from start to finish. The cover, penciled by Strobl, captures the zany energy of the story perfectly.
