Four Color #118

This 1946 Dell issue brings the masked hero and his faithful companion Tonto riding hard across a sun-baked Western landscape, Silver and a dark horse kicking up clouds of dust as the two race past a colorful totem pole. The cover's vivid red backdrop and crisp artwork by Charles Flanders give the scene real energy and movement. With Fran Striker's story "The Lone Ranger and the Land Grabbers" inside, it's a fine snapshot of one of the great Western adventure comics of the mid-1940s.
