A quiet moment on the water turns perilous in Famous Funnies #175, where young Dickie finds himself adrift after a sudden storm sends a larger boat careening toward him. With the sea rising and his small boat in danger, he makes a desperate move—cutting loose and grabbing a rowboat that soon begins to tip. Dan buys a small boat but has business elsewhere for several days. Dickie is asleep on it one night in choppy seas, when he spots a larger boat heading towards him, apparently out of control. He cuts the anchor ropes and starts drifting out to sea, but manages to get into a small rowboat, which then begins to capsize.
