Dan buys a small boat but has business elsewhere for several days. Dickie is asleep on it one night in choppy seas, when he spots a larger boat heading towards him, apparently out of control. He cuts the anchor ropes and starts drifting out to sea, but manages to get into a small rowboat, which then begins to capsize.
