Fables #92

Fables #92 kicks off a two-part story with a cover by Joao Ruas that's equal parts whimsical and unsettling — a crowd of fairy-tale figures in baseball gear surrounds a young woman and a grinning, humanoid shark-creature in a pinstripe uniform, while a massive set of snapping jaws looms at the left and a large, jovial figure presides over the whole chaotic ensemble from above. The banner at the bottom proudly declares them the "Gobtown Crushers, Pennant Winners," giving the whole scene a cheerfully absurd sporting event atmosphere. With Bill Willingham writing and David Lapham on art, this March 2010 Vertigo issue promises a delightfully strange chapter in the ongoing saga of fables living among us.
