This June 2011 Vertigo entry in Bill Willingham's long-running series finds a striking ensemble of Fables characters assembled beneath an armored helmet and heraldic shield — a rugged man with a cigarette, a green-tinged woman cradling a tiny figure, a blonde woman in red, a curly-haired girl, a pipe-smoking man with a red goatee declaring "My dream come true," and a pale beast with glowing eyes lurking at the edge. Joao Ruas's cover art gives the whole gathering a dreamlike, painterly quality that perfectly suits the "Super Team" arc's apparent theme of unlikely allies. At $2.99, it's a visually rich chapter in one of Vertigo's most imaginative ongoing series.
