Eternals #5
The penultimate chapter of Neil Gaiman and John Romita Jr.'s six-issue Eternals series arrives with a cover by Rick Berry that is genuinely unsettling: a wild-eyed, suited figure with glowing yellow eyes lunges forward through a blood-splattered urban alleyway, one clawed hand reaching directly at the viewer with visceral urgency. The painterly composition — chaos of crimson streaks against crumbling walls — gives the whole image a frenzied, almost feverish energy that fits a story titled "Right to Life" perfectly. With the miniseries heading into its final stretch, this issue promises the kind of mythic tension that made this 2006 collaboration one to follow to the very end.
