About this Collection

This black-and-white Essential volume collects the Hulk's adventures from the late 1970s and early 1980s, including issues #194–#209 and #211–#226 of the Incredible Hulk series. The stories pit Bruce Banner's green-skinned alter ego against a rogues' gallery of foes such as the Abomination, the Leader, the Rhino, and the Juggernaut, while also featuring guest appearances by the Silver Surfer, the Thing, and the original X-Men. This era sees the Hulk battling the U.S. military under General Ross, dealing with the scheming of the criminal organization known as the Corporation, and facing off against the cosmic-powered Stranger.

In "Revenge!", the Hulk faces a chilling new threat in the form of the Cobalt Man, a villain shaped by radiation and driven by a twisted sense of justice. With Bruce Banner weakened and confined, Betty must push him to the edge to summon the Hulk, while the Cobalt Man unleashes his fury on Sydney. Written by Roy Thomas and Gerry Conway, with dynamic art by Herb Trimpe and Jack Abel, this 2008 Essential Hulk issue delivers a tense, high-stakes showdown. The cover by Rich Buckler and John Romita captures the chaos in bold, classic style.
