A desert setting comes alive on Wendy Pini's cover for this 1979 WaRP Graphics issue, where a rearing, wild-eyed horse dominates the scene as several elves scramble around it — a white-haired elf gripping a rope, a red-haired figure lunging forward, and a mysterious blue figure hovering in the dusty background. "Voice of the Sun" promises the sun folk's sun-baked world is full of chaos and wonder, and Pini's fluid linework captures both the energy of the struggle and the richly detailed sandstone architecture behind it. ElfQuest at this stage of its run was already proving itself one of the most distinctive fantasy comics of its era.
