“What Is the Way”

The penultimate issue of WaRP Graphics' beloved series poses a haunting question right on its cover: "What Is the Way?" Dominating the image is an enormous, intensely gazing face — arresting green eyes framed by dramatic red face paint and an elaborate headdress — while a blonde elf woman and a bare-chested male elf stand face-to-face at her chin, a snarling wolf looming to one side and a red-haired figure watching from the other. Wendy Pini's cover art blends the intimate and the epic with striking confidence, making this 1982 issue a vivid snapshot of the series at full creative stride.
