“What Is the Way?”

ElfQuest #19 (February 1987) presents one of the series' most visually striking covers, with Wendy Pini's pencils and Joe Staton's inks combining to stunning effect. The image unfolds as a cascade of winged, golden figures — bat-winged and feathered forms intertwined — tumbling through a starlit void, while a dark-caped figure with wide, startled eyes looks on from above. It's a gorgeous, almost dreamlike composition that captures the mythic, otherworldly spirit at the heart of Wendy and Richard Pini's storytelling.
