Doom Patrol #22
The concluding chapter of "Crawling from the Wreckage" arrives in striking fashion with a cover by Richard Case that frames the action as an elaborate stained-glass window — a bold compositional choice that gives the whole image a cathedral solemnity. The upper panels depict a man in a wheelchair alongside a standing figure, while a golden-armored hero clashes with a red-clad opponent; below, two robed and clock-faced figures flank a dark central scene where a caped woman and a shadowy adversary confront each other amid flames. Morrison, Case, and Hanna's 1989 run on the Doom Patrol was already carving out something genuinely distinctive, and this Part 4 of 4 finale promises the kind of strange, visually inventive storytelling this team made their calling card.
