“The Boy Who Knew All the Answers”

This winter 1948 Quality Comics issue puts the cover's premise perfectly — the tiny, cape-billowing Doll Man charging forward with fists clenched, directly toward an oversized villain's gun hand and grasping fingers that dwarf him completely. Al Bryant's cover art makes brilliant use of forced perspective to hammer home Doll Man's miniature scale against the looming threat, and the bold tagline "The Doll Man Faces Danger!" leaves no doubt about the intensity on offer. A great snapshot of Golden Age superhero energy at a dime a copy.
