Doctor Strange #1
In *Doctor Strange #1* (1999), the Sorcerer Supreme confronts a terrifying, fleshless magic-user robbing banks and incinerating victims—only to realize too late that this fiery assailant is a distraction. While Strange is drawn into a deadly chase, a secret ceremony unfolds, led by the charismatic cult leader Jonathan White, who prepares to induct his twelfth apostle. With Topaz now under his influence, the stage is set for a dark ritual whose true purpose remains hidden. Written by Tony Harris, Ray Snyder, and Dan Jolley, with art by Tony Harris and cover by Tony Harris, this first chapter of "The Flight of Bones Part One" blends mystic dread with a chilling sense of misdirection.

Doctor Strange finally catches up with a magic-powered being, his face devoid of flesh, who has been robbing banks and burning people to ashes. What Strange doesn't realize is, is that the fiery magic-user is a decoy to keep Strange away from a ceremony to be led by cult leader Jonathan White to induct its twelfth apostle into its circle so that the cult can get on with whatever horrors it has planned for the world. The mystic-powered Topaz has fallen under the sway of the persuasive Dr. White and has seemingly joined the cult.
