Detective Comics #39

Part three of the "Anarky" arc arrives in this April 2015 installment of DC's New 52 Detective Comics, and the cover by Francis Manapul immediately signals a story in turmoil. A skull-faced figure crouches in what appears to be a vehicle against a fractured backdrop of fiery orange and deep green — skeletal imagery and paint-splattered chaos dominating the composition alongside the bold, graffiti-styled word "RECONSTRUCT." The creative team of Manapul and Buccellato continues to push the visual language of Gotham into striking new territory, making this one of the more arresting covers of the run.
