Part of DC's New 52 era, this February 2014 issue of Detective Comics arrives with a genuinely unsettling cover by Jason Fabok — a figure in Batman's cowl looms large, its mouth stretched open to reveal rows of jagged, monstrous teeth, while live bats cling to its tattered cape against a cold teal backdrop. The image suggests something has gone very wrong with the Dark Knight, or something is wearing his likeness. Writer John Layman and artist Aaron Lopresti, inked by Art Thibert, bring the story "Crown of Fear" to life inside.
