About this Collection

This 1990 one-shot from Marvel introduces a new version of the cyborg soldier Deathlok, reimagined for a darker, cyberpunk-influenced era. The story follows a disgraced military officer who is transformed into a weapon against his will, setting the stage for the character's 1990s ongoing series.

Deathlok #1 (1990) kicks off with a chilling twist: when Cybertek employee Michael Collins uncovers the dark truth behind the Deathlok project, he’s not killed—he’s turned into the weapon he sought to expose. Written by Dwayne McDuffie and Gregory Wright, with bold artwork by Jackson Guice and inks by Scott Williams, this issue introduces a cybernetic horror where a man’s mind fights to reclaim his body from the machine. The cover by Joe Jusko captures the eerie fusion of man and machine, setting the tone for a story where identity is the most dangerous thing to lose.
