DC Goes Ape #1
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis trade paperback collects the 2008 miniseries DC Goes Ape, a lighthearted, Silver Age-inspired romp that sees a host of DC heroes—including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and The Flash—transformed into apes or facing off against simian-themed threats. Featuring stories that embrace the absurdity of the era, the volume includes appearances by Gorilla Grodd, Giganta, and even Superbaby, offering a fun, offbeat collection for fans of DC's more whimsical side.
In "The Super-Monkey from Krypton!", a bizarre twist on superhero tropes sees Gorilla Grodd—disguised as William Dawson—escape prison and return to Gorilla City, where he transforms and irradiates himself with neo-magnetic energy, turning his fellow apes into devoted admirers. With his newfound charm, he sets his sights on Central City, aiming to win an election as governor, only to face off against the Flash, who counters his power with a burst of solar flare radiation. Written by John Broome and illustrated by Carmine Infantino with inks by Joe Giella, this 2008 tale blends sci-fi absurdity with classic superhero action, all wrapped in a cover by Art Adams that captures the wild energy of the story.
