The 'Without Fear' arc was written by Eisner Award-winner Ed Brubaker with art by Michael Lark and additional inking by Paul Azaceta and Stefano Gaudiano, part of the Brubaker-Lark collaboration that ran on Daredevil vol. 2 from issue #82 through #119 and the landmark renumbered #500. The run marked the series' transition away from the Marvel Knights imprint and back under the main Marvel banner. The arc was collected in the trade paperback Daredevil: Hell to Pay, Vol. 2 (ISBN 0-7851-2815-8), which also included the Daredevil Annual (2007) #1.

Parker Robbins (the Hood) appears as an antagonist consolidating control over Hell's Kitchen's criminal underworld; his scene with Mister Fear establishes that Fear never wanted territory — only to destroy Daredevil — and that the Hood is now the dominant organized-crime power in the neighborhood.
Mister Fear (Larry Cranston) surrenders to police and is sent to Ryker's Island, but the issue's coda shows him already ruling the prison hierarchy through his fear-pheromone chemistry, underscoring his untouchable nature.
Supporting cast present includes Foggy Nelson, Dakota North, and Ox (Ronald Bloch), the latter appearing as one of Fear's muscle-for-hire Enforcers throughout the arc.
