Lorna attackeras av en Väktare, en mutantjagande robot. Alex har blivit förlamad av sina nya mutantkrafer och X-Männen försöker hitta ett sätt att hjälpa honom. Den Levande farao försöker få den egyptiska polisen att gripa X-Männen för att de förstört ett fornminne. Alex flyr och blir då attackerad av en Väktare. Ismannen och Besten beger sig till USA för att undersöka attacken på Lorna och ser på TV hur Bolivar Trasks son Larry tillkännager att Väktarna åter har aktiverats för att jaga mutanterna.
