Conan #2/1974
In "Stormbringaren," Ka-Zar finds himself in New York when he’s unexpectedly visited by a man frozen in time—once a sailor stranded in prehistoric Urtidslandet 500 years ago, now immortal after drinking from the temple of the sun god Garokk. With the help of this ancient survivor, Ka-Zar returns to Urtidslandet to confront the growing threat of Zaladane, the sun god’s priestess, who has turned her wrath on Tongah’s village and now sets her sights on the city of Vala-Kuri. Written by Gerry Conway and illustrated by Barry Smith, with inks by Sam Grainger, the cover by Thord Lindblom captures the storm-laden intensity of a world on the brink.
In "Stormbringaren," Conan intervenes to save Zephra, daughter of the sorcerer Zukala, after learning of a dark plot: the sorcerer Kulan-Gath seeks to awaken the eternal sleeper, Queen Terhali, beneath the sunken city of Suckarnas sjö. Joined by the enigmatic Elric of Melniboné, who shares the same goal, Conan faces off against Queen Xiombarg’s army led by Prince Gaynor—two warriors bound by fate, not choice, in a battle that could reshape the world.
In "Solgudens offer," Ka-Zar finds himself drawn from New York to the ancient jungles of Urtidslandet when the Stone Man—a sailor cursed with immortality after surviving a shipwreck five centuries prior—appears with a desperate warning. Together, they uncover a growing threat: Zaladane, the high priestess of the sun god Garokk, has turned from her sacred duty, leaving a trail of death in her wake and now marching toward the city of Vala-Kuri.
