In the heart of Meroe, Conan tracks a trail of demonic forces that have seized their former master, Imhotep, forcing the Cimmerian to venture into the forbidden City of Magicians. Along the way, he stumbles upon an Oasis of Forgetfulness, where memory itself is a dangerous currency.

In "Det svarte sverdet til Jergal Zadh!", the dark sorcerer Jergal Zadh sends his loyal servant Cleolanthe to intercept the young Conan, knowing the Cimmerian will one day rule. Cleolanthe, tasked with delivering the soul-stealing Dark Blade, finds herself drawn to Conan as she attempts to ensnare him—until her growing affection forces her to betray her master. As the weight of her aging curse presses upon her, she must choose between duty and love in a final, heartbreaking moment.
