1939–2006
Tim Hildebrandt was born on January 23, 1939, and died on June 11, 2006. Along with his twin brother Greg, he formed one half of the Brothers Hildebrandt, a collaborative team renowned for their fantasy and science fiction artwork. The pair produced illustrations across a wide range of media, including movie posters, children's books, calendars, trading cards, and comic books. Tim's credits as an artist, colorist, or inker span ten issues from 1996 to 2020, with notable work appearing in *The New Adventures of Terry & the Pirates*, *9-11 - The World's Finest Comic Book Writers & Artists Tell Stories to Remember*, and *Marvel Art of the Brothers Hildebrandt*. He also contributed to *Superman: The Last God of Krypton*, *Wiz*, and *X-Men 2099: Oasis*. The brothers' lush, detailed style and imaginative depictions of fantasy worlds made them sought-after collaborators for decades. While the Brothers Hildebrandt did not receive major individual awards widely noted in standard comic book honors, their collective legacy endures through the enduring popularity of their poster art and illustrated books, which continue to influence fantasy illustrators.
