Les provinces hyrkaniennes de Dimmorz et Balkhana sont en guerre et ont toutes deux engagé des armées étrangères. Largement submergée par le général Kayde et ses forces turaniennes, l’armée mercenaire de Conan fait face à la famine dans la ville fortifiée où elle s’est réfugiée. En sollicitant l’aide d’un groupe de lépreux vivant sous la ville, l’armée de Conan prend l’avantage et remporte la bataille.
