“Mayhem”

In "Mayhem," the 1986 Marvel classic written by Bill Mantlo and illustrated by Terry Shoemaker, with inks by Terry Austin and colors by Glynis Oliver, a deadly trap set by mobsters and corrupt cops leads to Detective O'Rielly’s death in a gas chamber—only for the toxic fumes, intertwined with the powers of Cloak and Dagger, to resurrect her as the vengeful Mayhem. The cover by Shoemaker and Austin captures the eerie intensity of this pivotal moment, marking a defining chapter in the series.
