With the Civil War over, Captain America is brought to the courthouse steps to stand trial for his crimes. Despite the best efforts of his friends, a sniper shoots him and he falls. While Falcon and Winter Soldier scrabble to track down the assassin, the Red Skull's daughter unlocks a portion of Agent Sharon Carter's mind showing her that, although Cap was shot by a sniper, it was Sharon herself who gunned him down and finished him off in the confusion. Captain America is dead.
