Chew #38
John Layman and Rob Guillory's Chew continues its "Family Recipes" arc with this third chapter, and the cover sets an immediately uneasy tone: a hulking, scarred figure grips prison bars with massive fists, glowering outward with glowing green eyes, while a smaller figure reads quietly in a cell behind him. Guillory's artwork makes brilliant use of the cramped jail setting, contrasting the menacing bulk of the foreground character against the almost casual calm of the background prisoner. If this 2013 arc has you curious about what kind of trouble the Chew universe is cooking up behind bars, issue #38 is a fine place to pull up a chair.
