Chew #37
The second chapter of "Family Recipes" arrives in this 2013 Image series from writer John Layman and artist Rob Guillory, and the cover alone sets a quietly unsettling tone: a disheveled man sits alone at a dining table, staring down at a nearly empty plate holding just a single small, bloodied morsel — knife and fork in hand, expression somewhere between grim determination and unease. Guillory's warm, muted palette and precise linework make the intimate scene feel both mundane and deeply wrong, which is exactly the kind of tension Chew does so well.
