About this Collection

This collection kicks off the acclaimed Image series by writer John Layman and artist Rob Guillory, introducing readers to Tony Chu, a U.S. Food and Drug Administration detective with the bizarre ability to receive psychic impressions from anything he eats. Volume 1: Taster's Choice gathers the first five issues of the series, establishing the darkly comedic, crime-ridden world where food is both a weapon and a source of supernatural power.

Tony and John stake out a suspected distribution point for illegal chicken meat. When Tony and John sample the illegal meals, Tony learns that one of the cooks is a serial killer. The killer throws a cleaver at John's face and then cuts his own throat rather than allow Tony to arrest him. Due to the odd circumstances in which Tony comes up with the evidence, the police department wants to fire him, but Mason Savoy announces that Tony has been recruited and hired by the F.D.A.
